I have loved writing from the time I was in early grade school. I found joy in fun, creative writing projects in school. This passion of mine has evolved into a pursuit of more technical forms of writing in my collegiate career.

Every year, runners from all over the world gather in California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains for a test of endurance – the Western State 100. It’s a hundred mile race where runners take on the mammoth endeavor of running a course originally designed for horses, not humans. I researched this event and its history for this intriguing feature story.
