Design and Content

The Video

Like a recipe, creating a video – even a short one – has a lot of ingredients.  I again drew on a passion of mine and, in this case, it was baking.  I shot this using an iPhone and a Canon PowerShot and edited in Adobe Premier.  Setting up frames with two cameras to capture different angles of my work was challenging. This was a fun venture and the bread was amazing.

The Infographic

Information at a glance can be very useful.  This graphic was designed with the concept that by layering images, a person could create a visually engaging and informative design that relays information using little text.  By creating layers and arranging them in a way that makes sense, the viewer gets basic information about the topic but also the feeling that there is a cycle to the life of a plant   I chose this topic because of my love of tomatoes and gardening.

Thumbnails and Icons

Being able to quickly grab the attention of people who might be interested in your message is a first step to engaging users and visitors to your site.  Again, drawing from my love of gardening, I set out to develop icons that would tell a prospective audience what they could expect to find by engaging with a site.  I played with color schemes and graphics to make each icon appealing and make the viewer want to learn more.

Salute to Edward R. Murrow

The ability to work in Photoshop is an important skill in any communications department, and integrity in communications is an invaluable asset.  As a proud graduate of the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication, I wanted to design a graphic that paid homage to his contributions to the field.

Photography and Design

Using my skills in photography, I set out to spotlight the beauty of the Washington State University Vancouver campus.  Although the sun wasn’t shining, I was able to capture the allure of the scenery.  On this graphic, I was photographer and content writer.

The Flyer

During the uncertainty of the beginning phases of COVID-19, Pullman Public School District wanted to let people know about the precautions being taken and other vital information.  I designed this flyer to draw the attention of the public and provide details on how to find out more.  The copy and images were supplied, and I wanted to make the flyer noticeable and straightforward.
